By Dr. Keith Adams | Founder & President, CKA SAVE Project | 2026 Drake Group Education Fund Exceptional Service Award Recipient
I was not expecting the call.
For over 30 years, I have worked alongside student-athletes, coaches, and families — not chasing recognition, but chasing results. So when I learned I had been selected to receive the 2026 Exceptional Service Award from The Drake Group Education Fund, I had to sit with it for a moment.
The award will be presented on Thursday, April 23rd, at the Allen Sack National Symposium: Advancing Integrity in College Sport — a gathering of policymakers and advocates united around one urgent reality: today's student-athletes face pro-level challenges without pro-level support. That gap is exactly why the CKA SAVE Project exists. It is why I am deeply humbled — and more focused than ever on the work ahead.
"This award isn't a finish line. It's an invitation to do more — and to do it with more of you alongside us."
The Crisis: "Eligible" Is Not the Same as "Ready"
The landscape has shifted dramatically. Today's student-athletes operate as professional entities — managing personal brands, NIL valuations, and transfer portal decisions — yet they are doing so without a Front Office to guide them.
We have built a national system that measures eligibility and calls it success. Then on April 10, 2026, we saw the cost of that mistake. Florida A&M University (FAMU) announced Level Two NCAA Academic Progress Rate (APR) penalties, resulting in postseason ineligibility for their entire football program.
President Marva B. Johnson's words should serve as a warning to every administrator in the country: "These penalties reflect a failure of institutional infrastructure, not a failure of our student-athletes." When institutions fail, student-athletes pay the price.
The CKA SAVE Project's Academic Support Programs exist to fill the void left by a deteriorating educational infrastructure. The data tells the story:
The CKA SAVE Solution: Pro-Level Support
At the CKA SAVE Project, we don't point fingers — we build pathways. We choose conversation over confrontation, partnering with students, families, and institutions to provide the roadmap they are missing.
The CKA VIP Program
Our flagship offering, the CKA Virtual Internship Program (VIP), is a 100% asynchronous, grace-based professional incubator designed specifically for the demands of elite athletic life. Student-athletes are CEOs of personal brands navigating a high-stakes digital economy — yet while their peers spend summers at Fortune 500 companies, athletes are in the weight room, on the team bus, or on the road.
The CKA SAVE Project refuses to accept "either/or" as an outcome.
"We don't ask athletes to find more time — we teach them to maximize the time they already have." — Dr. Keith Adams
The CKA VIP, combined with our full suite of Academic Services, positions the CKA SAVE Project as a national leader in student-athlete support. The program delivers:
Two Ways to Partner With the CKA SAVE Project
We offer elite, veteran guidance for student-athletes, families, and institutions who refuse to let their future become a cautionary tale.
For Student-Athletes and Families — Full Academic Outsourcing ($3,750/year) We become your student-athlete's Academic General Manager — monitoring progress, solving time-poverty challenges, and ensuring nothing falls through the cracks.
For Institutions — The CKA VIP Virtual Excellence Hub ($7,500/semester) A pro-style academic support system delivered virtually. We help institutions maintain eligibility and track APR metrics without adding permanent headcount.
The Window Is Open. Don't Wait for It to Close.
The penalties at FAMU did not happen overnight. They accumulated quietly over eight semesters of insufficient support. The standards of the professional world are rising while institutional support is retreating — and that gap is where dreams go to stall.
Awards are moments. The work is what lasts.
Whether you are a parent or an administrator, don't settle for a system designed to wait for failure. Let our experience protect your legacy.
